Leah Miller makes the best pies in her district and has been selling them at auction and at a grocery store for awhile. She had her eyes on a pair of abandoned train cars for years, and when she notices activity there, she stops and investigates. The owner is there and instead of being annoyed at Leah snooping, instead she offers her a job as a waitress/cook.

Leah is thrilled at her new opportunity, and she is introduced to many English and Amish patrons. All of them love Leah's pies, and Leah is flattered when the owner changes the name to "Leah's Home Cooking" and offers Leah a partnership.

Leah soon finds several Amish men vying for her attention, and she isn't quite sure how to handle all the attention. Will she be able to discern God's will, both for her future husband and career? Especially when things start falling down around her?

THE WAY TO A MAN'S HEART is book three in Ms. Ellis' The Miller Family Series but it easily stands alone. I didn't have the privilege of reading book one in the series, but started with book 2, and I have to say that I totally loved this last book in the series (not because it concludes the series).

Leah is a very realistic heroine, young and confused, and trying to live out her dream yet maintain her Amish upbringing. All the characters in this book are very well-developed, making me care for them, and what happens to them.
Reviews for The Way to a Man's Heart (The Miller Family Series) (Paperback) I have just completed this, the third in Mary Ellis' series of the Amish Miller family. Though I really enjoyed the first two books of this series, I felt like the author had run out of things to say by this one. This book moves along quite slowly with the family as Leah is hired by a Mennonite woman to cook in her newly established restaurant and problems develop. It also follows the courtship issues Leah and her "bruder" Matthew are experiencing. It had very, very little about Aunt Hannah, her new son, and their family. Though I always enjoy learning more about the Amish and their traditions, this book is too predictable and there wasn't anything overly exciting that made me feel like I couldn't put it down. It seemed to me that there was a lot of rehashing and same ole, same ole. I think I could have finished reading after the first two books, and not missed much.
Reviews for The Way to a Man's Heart (The Miller Family Series) (Paperback) In County, Ohio, the Miller females feel their lives are going in the right direction. April the Mennonite hires eighteen year old Leah Miller to work at her new diner. Leah also has a nice man interested in courting her. She is as excited over Jonah Byler as he with her.

Leah's Aunt Hannah (see A Widow's Hope) and her sister Emma are smelly wool gathers while her mamm enjoys knitting on her good days that is. Hannah and Emma also recently married. Whereas Hannah's husband Seth is local Amish, Emma's is an outsider who gave up his lifestyle out of love for her. Both aunt and niece struggle to become part of the New Order Amish community but not as much as the latter's husband James.

The third Miller Family saga (see Never Far From Home) is a wonderful warm Amish contemporary tale. The storyline focuses on the Amish culture through the deep look at the Miller extended family as the women and their men, sheep and pies make for an enjoyable relationship drama. Each person is fully developed as they struggle with personal issues that include belonging to the community.
